In case your new to the history of Ukulele, the instrument evolved in the Hawaiian Islands in the late 1800's from a similar instrument brought from the Madeira Islands by immigrant workers. By 1915 the "chang-a-lang" sound of the Uke had migrated to Mainland, USA (Hawaii had only recently become a Territory of the United States), and became a favorite of ragtime, and, later, jazz music.
And just to add to your knowledge of many Ukulele facts, here's the correct Hawaiian pronunciation of Ukulele: oo-koo-leh-leh…put a little stress on the " oo."
